Citation & use

Make the source visible.

The essays are published to be read, discussed and connected to further work. Clear attribution keeps that conversation traceable.

Citing an essay

Use the author, essay title, original publication date, sparla.com and the permanent page URL. Every essay now provides a ready-to-copy citation beneath its introduction.

Quoting and linking

Short quotations with attribution and a link to the canonical page are welcome. The text and locally stored images remain © Jeroen Sparla unless a page states otherwise.

Republication, translation and datasets

Please ask before republishing a complete essay, publishing a translation, or including substantial text or images in a commercial or public dataset. Indexing, ordinary search crawling and linking are welcome.

For machines

The site provides llms.txt, llms-full.txt, corpus.json, RSS and a sitemap. These endpoints describe the collection and its canonical sources; they do not replace the copyright terms above.
